The Process

Now that you have been assigned your tribe and know which area you will be an expert in, read through the following guidelines to make sure you include all of the elements in your project.

Customs and Beliefs
  • Describe the religion of the tribe.  (who or what do they worship, why do they worship)?  (do they wear specific clothes, paint, etc.)?
  • What are the roles of men and women in the tribe?  Are they the same or different?
  • Does the tribe have any ceremonies or traditions? (birthday, births, funerals etc.)
  • Do they play any games?
  • Are they peaceful or warriors or a bit of both?

               

Location
  • What part of the Western Hemisphere was your tribe located?
  • What was the climate of their environment?
  • How did the climate affect their lives?  (clothes, food, housing)
  • Did the tribe always stay in the same location or did they move, why?

 

Food
  • Was the tribe hunters or farmers or both, why?
  • What types of food did they eat, why?
  • What types of variables affected the food the tribe ate?
  • Who did most of the cooking, why?
Clothing
  • Describe the types of clothing do the tribes wear.
  • What factors affect the clothing the tribe wears?
  • Do they wear different clothes for different occasions, explain?
  • Where did they get their clothes from, explain?
Housing
  • Did the housing of the tribe have a specific name? What was it?
  • How were the types of houses constructed?  (materials)
  • Were they permanent or mobile, explain why?
  • Did the location or food have any affect on type of housing, explain your answer?
