IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

This Pattern WebQuest will be used in a Kindergarten classroom.  We have two half day sessions of 2 hours and 45 minutes each so time is a bit of a problem.  We have only one computer in the classroom with Internet access and a printer.  Our classroom computer is in a corner of the room behind a large divider so it somewhat private and does not interfere with things going on in the classroom.  Because the Kindergarten is located in an annex away from the main school building, we do not have access to a computer lab.  Our computer is well-maintained and we can call on the technology coordinator whenever there are problems and he responds as quickly as he can.  Our district is in a low income area so many of our students do not have computers at home.

Before implementing this WebQuest, the children will have experience using the mouse.  They will have been introduced to the concept of patterning in class many times in a variety of ways--visual patterns on the calendar and posters, movement patterns, word and sound patterns, and patterns made with a variety of manipulatives.

The students will work in pairs on this WebQuest as time allows.  Children at this level really can't "solve" problems when they come up so they will be instructed to place a small stuffed animal on the top of the computer when they need help.  Children who misbehave get one warning and then lose their computer time for a succeeding incident.

If the WebQuest, links, and/or computer have major problems where they cannot be used, the children will be able to make patterns at a center.  They will have been instructed previously in what to do at the center.

Children will be assessed through worksheets and patterns they make with manipulatives.

They are sure to give verbal feedback on their feeling about this WebQuest
