Introduction
You have just been just hired as an
investigative reporter. Your new boss has just given you your
first assignment. He has told you to investigate and report on a
person in black history. Since it is your first assignment, he
wants you to present it to the other reporters first. After
that, you will go on the air and give your report live on
television.
Aim
Students will make a written and oral report
on an important African American. Students will utilize
the internet webquest to research, take notes,
and make a report.

Instructional Plan
Part 1: Research
Students will do research on a famous African
American using the internet web quest.
Students will use a graphic organizer to
organize and take notes from the web quest.
Part 2: Expository Essay
Students will synthesize notes into a
chronological sequence.
Students will write the first draft of their 4
or 5 paragraph expository essay using a writing template in
pencil and paper.
Content and information will be evaluated by
teacher.
Students will proofread and edit their essays.
Final copies of student's essays will be word
processed on Microsoft Word.
Part 3: Oral Report (Interview optional)
Students will organize their research notes
into a question and answer interview session.
Students will memorize and rehearse their
lines with a partner.
The final product will be assessed and
evaluated by the class and the teacher.
All three parts will be combined for one
cumulative grade.
